Richard's approach to teaching yoga embraces the philosophy that the purpose of life is essentially two-fold:

1) to deepen individual consciousness through the regular practice of awareness-enhancing techniques, and

2) to offer that consciousness ... simply by being it. Life's situations (those we like as well as those we don't) equally become "teachings" (sadhana) toward the fulfillment and realization of those ends.
